Our Horses

Not every horse at your stable is for sale, for lease, or standing for breeding. School horses, your own broodmares, retired horses, and family horses still deserve a place on your public website — that's what the Our Horses page is for.

Unlike your other public horse pages, there's no separate switch to add a horse here. A horse appears automatically once its profile meets a few conditions, explained below.

1. Turning It On​

Our Horses is a standard feature included with every stable, not a paid add-on. An admin switches it on from the Feature Flags page ("Our Horses").

Once it's on, the page itself is live at /our-horses — but it is not added to your website's menu automatically. Add a link to it yourself wherever it fits your site: a homepage button, a footer link, or a menu item you create in the Page Editor. This is intentional, so a stable that doesn't want this page isn't forced to add another item to its navigation.

2. What Makes a Horse Appear Here​

A horse shows up on Our Horses once all of the following are true on its own profile (Horse Management covers this same form field by field):

  • "Owned by the stable" is checked — this is for school horses, breeding stock, and sales horses kept on your own account, not a boarder's horse.
  • "Horse is for sale" is unchecked.
  • "Horse is for lease" is unchecked.
  • "Standing for breeding" is unchecked (only appears on stallions, when the Stallion Profiles feature is on).
  • "Mark as Sold" is unchecked.
  • The horse has been published, not left sitting as a draft.

There's no "add to Our Horses" checkbox to look for — ticking "Owned by the stable" while leaving the other listing boxes unchecked is what does it. Tick "Horse is for sale" on that same horse later, and it moves off Our Horses and onto your sales page instead; a horse never appears in both places at once.

3. Grouping Horses into Categories​

Once "Horse is for sale," "Horse is for lease," and "Standing for breeding" are all unchecked, a Showcase Category field appears on the horse's form. Use it to group the horse under a heading on the public page:

  • Broodmare
  • Retired
  • School Horse
  • Family Horse
  • Competition Horse
  • Other

Picking a category is optional — a horse left without one is grouped under "Other" rather than hidden.

4. Adding the Page to Your Website​

From the Page Editor, add the Showcase Grid block to any page to display these horses, grouped by category. Clicking through from a card opens the horse's normal profile page — there's no separate "showcase" version of it.

5. A Horse Isn't Showing Up — What to Check​

Open the horse's own profile and work down this list:

  1. Is "Owned by the stable" checked?
  2. Is "Horse is for sale" unchecked?
  3. Is "Horse is for lease" unchecked?
  4. Is "Standing for breeding" unchecked?
  5. Is "Mark as Sold" unchecked? (This checkbox lives in the Sale Information section, which only shows while "Horse is for sale" is ticked.)
  6. Was the horse published, rather than saved as a draft?
  7. Is the Our Horses feature switched on for your stable, and has someone actually added a link to /our-horses somewhere on your website?

What's Not Included Yet​

"Owned by the stable" is a newer field, and it has not been automatically set on any existing horse — including ones you already think of as belonging to the stable. If Our Horses looks empty right after you turn the feature on, this is why: go through your existing horses and tick the box on the ones you want shown. There's no bulk "mark all my school horses as stable-owned" tool yet, so it's a deliberate, one-by-one choice per horse.

Common Questions​

  • Can a horse be on Our Horses and also for sale? No. Checking "Horse is for sale" (or "Horse is for lease," or "Standing for breeding") takes a horse off Our Horses — the two are mutually exclusive.
  • Does a boarder's horse ever appear here? No. "Owned by the stable" is specifically for horses on your own account — your school horses, your own breeding stock, and sales horses you hold yourself. Leave it unchecked for a boarder's horse.
  • Where does this page show up in my menu? Nowhere, by default. Add your own link to it — from your homepage, footer, or a menu item in the Page Editor — wherever it fits your site.
